She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Maxwell, Sr. and Esther Kinney Maxwell; her son James Rayford Wood, Jr.; and her siblings, Pat McCollum, Brenda Lyle, Lilly Harbert and Ann Bundrick.
She is survived by: her daughters, Christine Blackerby (Will), Jennifer Jones and Cathy Aragon; her daughter-in-law Rita Wood; and her siblings, Lamar Maxwell, Danny Maxwell, Oscar "Bud" Maxwell, Jr. and Jeanette Dutton. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Berry Funeral Home (1265 Washington Hwy, Elberton, GA 30635). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
