He was predeceased by: his parents, Wiley Boyette Storey and Fannie Belle Eason Storey; and his sister Clara Johnson Woody. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Storey of Ellaville; his children, Paula Martin (Kevin) of Ellaville, Iris Berry (Mike) of Ellaville, Angel Cooper (Robbie) of Ellaville and James Storey, Jr. (Leslie) of Ellaville; his grandson Luke Martin; his great grandchildren, Rylan Martin, Jasper Smith, Cason Cullens and Cleo Smith; and his brother Ray Storey (Janice). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shiloh Baptist Church or Phoebe-Sumter Hospice.
