She was predeceased by: her parents, F. B. Chastain and Bonnie Goble Chastain; and her siblings, Cathelene Chastain, Judy Thomas, Marie Nicholson, Emilee Blankenship, Betty Hamrick and Rosie Burton.
She is survived by: her husband Jim Melton; her sons, Edward James Lecompte, Eric Lecompte and Randy Shumate; and her siblings, Eddie Chastain, Glenda Ridings, Gail Queen, Tracy Brown and Charlene Bunch. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren.
