He is survived by: his wife Joan Garland of Ellijay; his children, Gene Garland Jr. of Ellijay, Joey Garland of Douglasville, Britt Garland of Douglasville, Becky Whitworth of Ellijay and Cindy Scott of Ellijay; his siblings, Benny Garland of Jasper, Rex Garland of Ellijay, Christine Stover of Ellijay, Charlene Byrd of Ellijay and Brenda Richard of Ellijay; his grandchildren, Meghan Garland, Dusty Garland, Haley Stubefield, Hannah Garland, Jake Scott, Jody Scott, Justin Scott, Hope Pike and Wade Whitworth; and his great grandchild Josh Theobald. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
