In the vast expanse of eternity, Mary Jane shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Mary Jane farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert Stanley and Margaret Dempsey Stanley; and her siblings, Jerry Stanley, Emory Stanley, Clifford "Jabo" Stanley and Maggie Clayton.
She is survived by: her husband William Townsend of Ellijay, GA; her son Chad Townsend of Ellijay, GA; and her siblings, Bo Stanley (Charlene) of Ellijay, GA and Shirley Southern. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bernhardt Funeral Home (163 River St, Ellijay, GA 30540). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 24th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home (163 River St, Ellijay, GA 30540).
