Matthew leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Matthew’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Matthew will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his father Larry Gene Gibbs. He is survived by: his mother Karen Gibbs Holbrooks (Carroll); his children, Bryson Joshua Shubin-Gibbs and Gina Bosley (J. T.); his sister Penny Griggs (Greg); his nephew Jonas Griggs; and his niece Ashtyn Griggs. He is also survived by several extended family members and many dear friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Bernhardt Funeral Home (163 River St, Ellijay, GA 30540). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Ebenezer Baptist Church (10358 GA-52, Ellijay, GA 30536).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Branson Chastain, 84 River Ridge, Ellijay, GA 30536, in memory of Matthew Gibbs.
