He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hunt and Carrie Lee Irvin of Shawmut; his stepfather Joseph Smith; his daughter Deborah Ann Donald (Cecil); and his sister Shirley Martin.

He is survived by: his children, Barbara Janet Stanley (Mark) and Bobby James Hunt Jr. (Suzanne); his former wife Jamie Gunter; his siblings, Autumn, Adam Stanley, Joel and Violet; his great grandchild Alice Gunter; his granddaughters, Amanda Marie Bartlett and Deanne Cannon; his brother Darrel Wayne Smith; his half-siblings, Tommy Hunt and Dee Walters; his friend Thomas Wayne Hanson; his significant other Frances Marie Wood of Atlanta, Georgia.; and his granddaughter Carrie (Debbie). He is also survived by his father and his children knew as their grandfather.
