He is survived by: his wife Lynn Porterfield; his children, Jamie Porterfield (April) and Amy Hattaway (Wayne); his stepsons, Jordan Yates (Jessi) and Colin Yates; his grandchildren, Lauren Walsh (John), Leigh Teffeteller (Zack), Canon Porterfield, Caden Porterfield, Tyler Hattaway and Will Hattaway; his great grandchildren, John Walsh, Eric Walsh, Katherine Walsh, Taylor Teffeteller and Sutton Teffeteller; his brother Ira Porterfield (Sue); his nieces, Laura Tjaarda (Jeffrey) and Tera Balog (Michael); his mother-in-law Louise Mangum; his siblings-in-law, Terri Cook (Terry) and Mark Vita (Trendi); and his sibling's children, Aiyana, Mikayla Coward, Justin and Blake Vita.
