He was predeceased by: his former wife Carole Christian Bailey; his son Kenneth Richard Bailey; his parents, John Artice Bailey and Annie Bell Bailey; and his siblings, Charlie Wayne Bailey and Vera Joyce Whitener.

He is survived by: his wife Frances E. Bailey; his children, Kimberly Carole Vaughn and Keith Brian Davis, Sr.; and his grandchildren, Keith Brian Davis Jr., Mandy Ortez, Matt Vaughn, Madison Floyd, Morgan Vaughn and Miles Vaughn. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers please donate to the Kidney Department at Piedmont Hospital in honor of Richard Bailey.
