She was predeceased by : her parents, Carl Powell and Annie Powell; and her husband Leo Robert Sandiford. She is survived by : her children, Sheryl Bates (Tom) and Steve Sandiford (Muriel); her grandchildren, Melanie Bates Cole (Rob), Jessica Bates Mesnick (David), Patrick Sandiford (Laura) and Jill Sandiford; her great grandchildren, Stella, Simon, Eli, Miles, Lena, Penelope and Tillie; and her sister Joyce Fulford.
