He was predeceased by: his parents, Rhude Sims and Ethel Penland Sims; his parents-in-law, Harvey "Tommy" and Vera Jarrard; his brother Shirley Sims; his sister-in-law Faye Sims; and his great-nephew Sims Vickers.
He is survived by: his wife Lynda Sims of Flowery Branch; his son Tim; his daughter-in-law Joy Sims of Gainesville; his son Tyler Sims of Flowery Branch; his daughter-in-law Wendi Sims of Fair Play, SC; his grandchildren, Andrew, Alex Sims of Gainesville and Madison Sims of Flowery Branch; his brothers, Guy (Anne Sims) and Frank (Brenda Sims); and his nieces and nephews, Rex Sims of Gainesville, Rhonda Sims Palmer of Gainesville, Russell Sims of Gainesville, Jeff Sims (Carrie) of Cartersville, Chris Sims of Rome and Anne Marie Sims (Jed) of Columbus. He is also survived by other great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
