Though Emma may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur P. Phillips and Cora Lee Hansford Phillips; her brother Oscar Lee Phillips, Sr.; and her husband Lester H. Maddox, Jr.. She is survived by: her daughters, Gwendolyn D. Maddox and Lawana F. Maddox Reid (Lenzy); her brother Arthur Phillips; and her granddaughter Kennedy Reid. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Emma was a devoted member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board for several years until the onset of COVID-19.
