She was predeceased by: her parents, Oran Self and Myrtle Self; her husband Donald Wayne Carpenter; her daughter Lori Ann Carpenter; and her brother Henry Self.

She is survived by: her children, Lisa Otting of Ringgold, GA and Eric Carpenter of Atlanta, GA; her grandsons, Michael Otting of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Rhys Otting of Ooltewah, TN and Matthew Otting of Chattanooga, TN.; her great grandchildren, Ellis, Lexi, Ansleigh, Abby and Hudson; and her sisters, Anne Hackett of Plainview and Elayne Ferguson of Lubbock.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory (3239 Battlefield Pkwy, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742).
