With profound sadness, we say goodbye to David Lawhorn of Fort Valley, Georgia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. David left this world on July 17, 2025 at the age of 79, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lawhorn and Minnie Russ Lawhorn; his siblings, James Lawhorn and Maggie Spann; and his grandchildren, Donovan Gaines and Tawney Gaines.
He is survived by: his wife Hilda Jones Lawhorn; his children, Jonathan D. Lawhorn (Estella "Sissy") and Amy Gaines (Tim); his grandchildren, Robin Lawhorn, Rachel Goff, Rebecca Sheffield, Drake Gaines and Taylor Gaines; his sister Betty Lafferty; and his sister-in-law Christine Robbins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Rooks Funeral Home (213 W Church St, Fort Valley, GA 31030). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Oaklawn Cemetery (720 S Camellia Blvd, Fort Valley, GA 31030).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children in David's memory.
