George Lamar Thore Sr. Obituary
December 23, 1941 - January 7, 2018 Early on the morning of Sunday, January 7, 2018, George Lamar Thore, Sr., 76, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven. Mr. Thore was born on December 23, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late George Lucien and Zilpah Alice Swain Thore. He graduated from Chalmette High School in 1961 and joined the United States Navy where he served as an electrician during the Vietnam era.He met Lillian Amelia Acosta in 1966 and they married the following year.Following his Naval career, he continued working as a civilian electrician. He relocated to Georgia in 2005 after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina.Mr. Thore was preceded in death by his son, Michael R. Thore, Sr. and his former wife, Lillian Amelia Acosta.His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring children, George L. Thore, Jr. (Dawn) of Chalmette, Louisiana and Cheryl Anderson (Phil) of Fort Valley, Georgia; his grandchildren, Gabrielle Thore, Victoria Anderson, David Anderson, Samuel Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Simon Anderson, Kayla Gauthreaux (Devin), and Michael Thore, Jr.; and his brother, Louis Maxwell Thore of Chalmette, Louisiana. The graveside service celebrating Mr. Thore"s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Magnolia Park Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Thore"s arrangements.
