He was predeceased by: his parents, T. C. Roper and Bethel Icenhower Roper Evans; his former wife Shelba Jean Burnette Roper; his wife Betsy-Gibson Roper; and his son-in-law Billy Mashburn.
He is survived by: his daughter Dinah Mashburn; his grandchildren, Justin Setser (Kara) and Jenna Mashburn Sansone (Chris); his great grandchildren, Andi, Leighton, Braeden and River; his brothers, Charles Roper (Sharon) and Thad Roper; and his stepchildren, Candi Worley (Anthony) and David Sanborn (Cindy). He is also survived by children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the South Macon Baptist Church (2949 Clarks Chapel Rd, Franklin, NC 28734). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 3:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at the Woodlawn Cemetery (1202 Old Murphy Rd, Franklin, NC 28734). He worked until covid came along, and he fully retired at age 85.
