He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. John T. Thompson and Evelyn Majors Thompson; his in-laws, Clyde and Pauline McClure; and his sister-in-law Mela Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Ann McClure Thompson of Gainesville; his children, Tracy Thompson Gravitt (Steven) of Gainesville, Denise Thompson Fortner (Wendall) of Gainesville and Rev. Johnny Thompson (Sandra Dutton Thompson) of Gainesville; his grandchildren, Bryn Cooper (Pam Spivey Cooper), Cari Cooper Suttles (Michael Suttles), Emily Cooper-Lopez (Brian Lopez), Tori Thompson Bonilla (Sergio Bonilla), Rylee Michelle Thompson and Ethan Wayne Thompson; his siblings, Sandra Thompson, Janey Dutton, Jimmy A Thompson and Judy Waters (Randall); and his great grandchild Margot Evelyn Lopez. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
