He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Mays and Louise Mays; and his daughter Nicki Mays. He is survived by: his wife Elaine Mays; his daughters, Mary Ann Gomel (Rick), Debbie Moore (Gary) and Collette Dodd (Tom); and his brother Richard Mays. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.
