He is survived by: his wife Marie Hawkins Merritt of Gainesville; his daughter Merilynn; his son-in-law Jordan Woodfin of Gainesville; his daughter Megan Merritt-Garza; his son-in-law Jason Garza of Decatur; his son Martin; his daughter-in-law Abby Merritt of Gainesville; his godson Bo (Kate Wren); his grandchildren, Evelyn of Gainesville, Emmie Woodfin of Gainesville, Maylee of Gainesville and Marlowe Merritt of Gainesville; his siblings, Carolyn Jarrard (Randy), Millie Merritt and John Merritt (Katey); and his sister-in-law Linda Merritt.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Gainesville for the Stephen Ministry or North Georgia Works of Gainesville.
