It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Martha Hunter (Gainesville, Georgia), who passed away on December 4, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Sheppard and Mary Lou Sheppard; her husband Donald J Hunter; her siblings, Inez Brown, Annielee Harris (Luxie), Jesse B Jackson, Robert Lewis Sheppard and James Albert Sheppard; her children, Mary Annette Childers, James Edward Shields (Gail) and Ernest Shields; her grandchildren, Demetrius Shun Studivant, Hunter Alexander Robbins Pena and Lisa Renee Childers; her daughter-in-law Nancy Shields; and her siblings-in-law, Ollie B Littlejohn, Frankie Hunter, Lydia Thompson and Ed Hunter.
She is survived by: her children, Kimbler Pena Patino (Abel), Barbara Wilburn (Charles) and Billy Ray Shields; her in-laws, Emma Woods Doris (Charles), Ralph Thompson (Kathaleen), James Earl Thompson, Henry Thompson Charity (Dale), Cheryl Niles (Cedric), Laurie Reed (John) and Ken Thompson (Evelyn); her children, Patrica Smith, Annie Nunley Janet Williams, Anthony Johnson (AJ) and Lamar Johnson; and her nieces, Annie Ruth Bulter and Teresa Martin. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, December 13th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Memorial Park Funeral Homes (2030 Memorial Park Dr, Gainesville, GA 30504).
