He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby Murphy; his parents, Egbert Murphy and Katie Murphy; his siblings, Lola Mae Burnett, Betty Canup, Gladys Smith, Earnest, Lewis, Clarence, Grady and Charlie Murphy; and his children, Brenda Hodge and Jimmy Thomas.
He is survived by: his children, Johnny Wayne (Judy Thomas), Diane Moore and Janice Thomas. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
