He was predeceased by: his parents, James Kirkland and Minerva Bacon Kirkland; his son Kenneth Kirkland; and his wife Mary Vonceil Beasley Kirkland. He is survived by: his brother-in-law Jimmy Beasley of Glennville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Following his military service, he pursued a career as an engineer with the Department of Transportation, where he made lasting contributions to infrastructure and safety, impacting countless lives throughout his career.
