He was loved and cherished by many people including : his son Chris Balkcom; his grandchildren, Dylan of Twiggs County, Georgia. and Alissa Balkcom of Twiggs County, Georgia.; his siblings, Wayne Balkcom (Melinda) of Macon, Darlene, Alice, Nancy and Karen; his mother Imogene Smith of Macon; his stepmother Mary Roberts; his sister-in-law Frieda Balkcom of Macon; his father Francis Lamar Balkcom, Sr.; and his brothers, Charles Balkcom and Ricky Balkcom.
