He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Hearn Smith Sr. and Elizabeth Alexander Smith; and his brother Cathey Smith. He is survived by: his wife Gale R. Smith; his children, Jason Smith (Lisa) of Johns Creek, Katherine S. Rhodes (Jon) of Cody and David Smith of Gray, Georgia; his grandchildren, Ashton Fong (Corbett), Gavin Smith, Madeline Rhodes, Tristan Rhodes, Sidney Rhodes, Tanner Smith and Lyahm Smith; his sister Bitsy Howe of Crozet, Virginia; and his nieces, Jennifer Schnarre (Fred) of Scottville and Genie Holliday (Mark) of Poulsbo, Washington.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hart's Mortuary, Jones County Chapel (307 Pecan Ln, Gray, GA 31032). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Christ Church (582 Walnut St, Macon, GA 31201).
