He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Smith and Ruth Buntyn Smith; his daughters, Denise Philbeck and Karen Curry; and his brothers, Vern Smith and Larry Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Anne Flournoy Smith; his children, Missy (Alton McKinley), Kathy (Bill Saye), Deborah R. Coker and Allen Phillips; his sons-in-law, Scott Philbeck and Carey Curry; and his siblings, Lamar Smith and Edna Ruth Jones. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
