He was predeceased by: his wife Penny Marshall Winstead; his parents, Doris Winstead and Virginia Winstead; and his sisters, Francis Morris and Wilma Freeman.
He is survived by: his close friend Carolyn Freeman; his children, Charles William Winstead III (Elizabeth), Melanie Sue DeCesare (Robert), Jennifer Kaye Winstead and Jonathan Marshall Winstead (Michelle); his grandchildren, Isabelle, Emily, Charles IV, Anthony, Nicholas and Catherine; and his sister Velma. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews along with countless friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Charles.
