With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Cleo Bates of Griffin, Georgia, born in Clayton, Georgia, who passed away on December 22, 2022 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Caleb Virgil Scroggs and Hattie G Scroggs; her husband Charles O. Bates; and her daughter Judi Hill. She is survived by: her daughter Gloria (Bobby Hamil); her stepchildren, Debbie Goddard (Mike) and Dale Knopick (Bill); her son-in-law Verner Hill; and her brother Bobby Joe Scroggs (Lucia). She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to DeVotie Baptist Church, P.O. Box 787, Experiment, Georgia, 30212.
