He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert P. Shapard Jr. and Katherine F Shapard; and his brothers, Robert P Shapard III, William H Shapard, Richard M Shapard and Herbert F. Shapard.
He is survived by: his wife Lillian Shapard; his children, Terri Moody (Ronald) of Griffin, John Shapard Jr. (Cara) of Griffin and Tom Shapard of Valdosta; his grandchildren, Katherine Moody, Lilly Moody, Townes Shapard, Sophie Shapard and Emma Shapard; his sister Sally Hill of Tampa, FL; and his siblings-in-law, Virginia "Ginger" Shapard, Mary Ann Shapard, Diane Barlow, Donna Overby, Marie Smith, Marty Shapard of Griffin and Jerry Soloman of California. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to St. George's Church and St. George's Episcopal School.
