He was predeceased by: his parents, Duncan Monroe and Lucy Wells Smith. He is survived by: his wife Cristi Smith; his son Andres; his daughter-in-law Cindy; his grandson Samuel; his siblings, Carolyn Bamford and Mark Duncan Smith; his sister-in-law Mary; his niece Natalie Smith; and his nephew Evan Bamford.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the National Audubon Society in Miles' memory.
