He is survived by: his wife Barbara Klinges Carter; his daughter Beth; his son-in-law Jeffrey Ginther; his sons, R. Mark (Lauri Carter) and Matthew (Rachel Carter); his grandchildren, Maeve Carter, Scout Carter, Andrew Ginther, Jackson Ginther and Mallory Carter; his sisters, Becca Modrell, E. Jane Carter and Amy Poche; and his aunt Jane Harris.
