She was predeceased by: her parents, Ray Steele and Ruby Steele; and her husband Jeff Wicks. She is survived by: her sons, Toby Chappell of Athens and Davis Chappell; her brother Michael Steele (Theresa) of Griffin; and her stepchildren, Daniel Wicks, Ivey White and Bonnie Wicks. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to support dementia and Alzheimer's research at the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center of Emory University (alzheimers.emory.edu).
