He was predeceased by: his parents, William Basil "Babe" Mitchell and Sarah Ethel Mitchell; and his brother Marty Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Mae Mitchell; his children, William Jeffrey Mitchell and Katie M. Austin; his son-in-law Joshua Austin; his granddaughters, Leona Wilder Austin, Aslyn Wren Austin and Vayda Maren Austin; and his sisters, Marsha Schultz (Bill) and Debra Hoy (David). He is also survived by extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home (1979 GA-119, Guyton, GA 31312). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Centerpoint Community Church (2160 GA-21, Rincon, GA 31326). A burial will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Effingham Memorial Gardens (880 GA-119, Springfield, GA 31329).
