With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Hugh Kirby of Hartwell, Georgia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Hugh left this world on July 12, 2025 at the age of 86, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe C. Kirby and Vernie D. Kirby of Drayton, SC.; and his sister Jean K. Brown of Greenville, SC.. He is survived by: his wife Deane O. Kirby; his children, Kelly K. Shock (Joel) of Lamoni, Iowa and Cory O. Kirby (April) of Flowery Branch, GA; his brother Dann C. Kirby of Greenville, SC; and his grandchildren, Owen, JD, Brenton Shrock, Carlyn, Callie, Baleigh and Brindley Kirby.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hartwell First Methodist Church (200 E Howell St, Hartwell, GA 30643). A reception was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Music Fund for New Hymnals, Hartwell First Methodist Church, 200 East Howell Street, Hartwell, GA 30643.
