He was predeceased by: his parents, Lumus Columbus "Dick" Carnes and Jewel Byrum Carnes; his former wife Martha Kesler Carnes; his wife Linda Campbell Carnes; his siblings, Marvin Carnes and Thelma Seymour; and his granddaughter Crystal Johnson.
He is survived by: his pet Lucky; his girlfriend Jo Ferguson; his daughters, Angie Whitfield (Steven) of Hartwell, Georgia and Paula VanHollenbeck (Ken) of Hartwell, Georgia; his siblings, Martha Thornton, Guynell Scott and Perry Carnes; his grandchildren, Cody Johnson (Tabitha), Trae Dove (Claudia) and Jamie Dove (Allison); and his great grandchildren, Augusta, Ellie, Presley, Teagan, Tucker, Willow, Mason and Dahlia.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Coile and Hall Funeral Directors (333 E Johnson St, Hartwell, GA 30643). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
