He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Tanksley Hills; his parents, Rosa Lee and John Tom Hills Sr.; his son Larry Hills; and his children-in-law, Charles Page and Cheryl Knight Hills (Helen Hills).
He is survived by: his children, John T. Hills III, Reginald T. Hills, Lanier Gross (Carrie), Sheila Page, Pamela Tanksley and Sharon Thompkins (Maurice); his cousins, Lillie Mosely, Douglas Hills, John Hills (Val) and Mary; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Frank Johnson and Josephine Tanksley. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
