We are sad to announce that on November 6, 2025, at the age of 93, Robert Long Smiley (Hinesville, Georgia) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Carroll Smiley, Sr. and Madge Groover Smiley; and his siblings, Joseph Carroll Smiley, Jr., James Willis Smiley, Sr., Margaret Smiley Floyd, Betty Smiley Floyd and David Neil Smiley, Sr..
He is survived by: his wife Ada Fletcher Smiley; his daughter Karen S. Branch (Randy); his granddaughter Kathryn B. Nelson (Billy Joe); his great grandchildren, Jennings Nelson, Billy Joe Nelson, III (Beau) and Julia Laine Nelson; his brother Hugh Smiley (Carol); and his sister-in-law Barbara Smiley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home (308 W Oglethorpe Hwy, Hinesville, GA 31313). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Georgia Hospice Care in Mr. Bob's name; 481 EG Miles Pkwy, Suite D, Hinesville, GA 31313.
