She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Carlton Redding and Effie Eugenie Lee Redding; her former husband John Elvin Griffin; Floyd Eugene Dowling, Mary Madras Spinnato, Elvera O'Berry, Ruby Pearl Boatright, Effie Mae Strickland, Doris Crews, Virginia Strickland, Eugene Carlton Redding and John Ellis Redding.
She is survived by: her children, James Elvin Griffin (Sherrie) of Blackshear, Jimmy Gene Dowling of Hoboken, Virgil Dowling (Janice) of Hoboken, Marvin Dowling of Hoboken and Carolyn Evelyn Phillips (Chuck) of Chickamauga, GA; her grandchildren, Mindy Edge, Ashley Kelley, Derrick Daniels, Chase Griffin, Haley Griffin, Kelly Griffin, Joaini Griffin, Sandie Moore, Sammy Dowling, Craig Dowling, Tiffany Dowling, Matthew Dowling and Timothy Dowling; and her siblings, Durwood Redding of Hoboken, Louise Dawson of Hoboken and Bernita Thomas of Savannah. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 11th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Frye Funeral Home (136 Satilla Ave, Nahunta, GA 31553). A graveside service was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hoboken City Cemetery (537 Palm St, Hoboken, GA 31542).
