He was predeceased by : his parents, William Hugh Drake and Aribelle Horton Drake; his wife Beth Drake; and his daughter Jimmie Beth Drake. He is survived by : his children, Stacy Miles (Jason) of Hogansville, Shana Drake of LaGrange, Tanya Bennett (David) of Wilmington, NC and James D. Drake, Jr. (Brandi) of Phenix City, AL; his grandchildren, Caleb Drake (Paige), Claudia Robinson, Anna Andrews (Bruce), Logan Drake, Emily Drake, Jacob Miles, Taylor Thayer (Jordan), Jackson Bennett (Alexis) and Blake Powell; his great grandchildren, Kade Drake, Oakley Robinson, Morgan Thayer and Andy Anderson; his brothers, David Drake of Winston-Salem, NC and Danny Drake of Hogansville; and his pet Maxx.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home (208 Johnson St, Hogansville, GA 30230).
