With sadness, we share the passing of Franklin Dempsey Griffin of Hortense, Georgia. Franklin, born on November 28, 1943, passed away on September 23, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Nellie Woodard Griffin; his brother Terry Lance Griffin; and his angel babies, Gary Scott Harris and Carter Ray Harris. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Sue Griffin of Hortense; his daughters, Phyllis Harris (Tony Griffin) of Nahunta, Cindy Herrin (Daniel) of Hortense and Jennifer Owens (George Skarpalezos) of St. Simons; his stepsons, Denny Ryan Tuten (Michelle) of Lakeland, GA and Ted Hagler, II (Myka) of Kingsland; his grandchildren, Candace Purdom (Mikal Szczepaniak), Jordan Thomas, Stevens Harris (Kayla), Noah Tuten, Ansley Worth (Logan), Carsyn Owens, Trey Hagler, Chloe Rizer (Dalton), Chandler Owens, Taylor Hagler, Remington Herrin and Satilla Griffin (Alan Bennett); his great grandchildren, River Brooks Worth, Bailey Knight Griffin (Cassie), Hayden Mardany (Laci), Joshua Mardany and Christian Szczepaniak; his great great grandchildren, Daultry, Maggie, Dalan and Axson; and his sister Sharon Carlson of Augusta. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Frye Funeral Home (136 Satilla Ave, Nahunta, GA 31553). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
