He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Motes and Lucille Motes; his wife Vickie Motes; his daughter Angela Price; and his sister Patsy Wheless.

He is survived by: his sons, Alex Lane (Carroll) and Joe Motes (Rebecca); and his siblings, David Motes, Ernest Motes, Shirley Moon and Barbara Bridges. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; and a host of other relatives.
