It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bettye Griffin Clay of Ideal, Georgia, who passed away on May 10, 2026, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Trent Bridges and Ina Hardison Bridges; her former husband Phillips Eugene Griffin Sr.; her sisters, Lucielle Johnson and Mary Coody; and her daughter Betty Carol Griffin.

She is survived by: her husband Rev. Sidney Clay; her sister Lillian Williams; her children, Phil Griffin (Debbie) and Sharon Robertson (Dee); and her grandchildren, Angela Lee, Ruckus Skye (Mellisa), Dawn Spikes, Phillips Eugene Griffin III, Michele Robertson and Brian Keith Griffin. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
