He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Wiley Lawson Scrutchins and Buther Scrutchins-Alford; his stepfather Clarence Alford; and his siblings, Johnny Scrutchins, Wiley Scrutchins, Rev. Spencer Scrutchins (Louselma), Albert Scrutchins and Ethel L. Baker.
He is survived by: his wife Gwen Scrutchins; his children, Tricia Scrutchins, Sheanna Chappell and Jarrick Chappell; his grandchildren, Chanell Scrutchins, Javon Scrutchins and Kade Johnson; his great grandchildren, Kaleya Scrutchins, Jayden Scrutchins, Jordan Scrutchins, Jovonie Scrutchins, Gabriel Scrutchins and Nicholas DeSintis; and his siblings-in-law, Elder Dianne Fulton (Bishop Arthur), Janetta Hall (Hugh), Steve Moore (Kordel) and Benjamin Moore. He is also survived by cousins, relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, June 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Tilla Baptist Church (2424 US-441, Irwinton, GA 31042). A reception was held on Saturday, June 20th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 797 Pointe W Loop, Dublin, GA 31021. Viewing will be held on Saturday, June 19th 2027 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the Serenity Funeral Home & Cremation Services (414 Telfair St, Dublin, GA 31021).
