With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Thelma E. Downing (Irwinton, Georgia), who passed away on July 28, 2025 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her daughters, Margeret, Bernestine and Teresa; and her siblings, Vera, Oretta, Isiah Jr., Ivey B. and Artis Lee.
She is survived by: her children, Willie Alvin Collins (Diane), Bruce Downing (Terri), Cora Lee Harris and Annette Stephens; her grandchildren, Xzavian Sr., Terevia, Shaquilla Travis (Hezekiah), Shalaura, Terrance, Kijuan, Shaniece (Gary), Tantiana, Tameka and Tatiana; her great grandchildren, Icis, Sa'nya, Imani, Tanaja, Devery, Antaniya, Hezekiah, Antaniqua, Kileigh, Antonio II, Ronie, Kendule, Xzavian, Jr., Kendryck, Ace and Tailyn; her sisters, Carolyn Whipple, Mary L. Allen and Emma J. Strange (Elbert); and her sisters-in-law, Louvenia S. Whipple and Mattie B. Whipple. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, August 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wilkinson County Mortuary (142 Wriley Rd, Irwinton, GA 31042). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Wilkinson County Memorial Chapel (142 Wriley Rd, Irwinton, GA 31042).
