He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Burns and Mary Burns; his wife Patricia G. Burns; his brother Ronnie Burns, Sr.; his granddaughter Haley Burns; and his great grandchild Trey Dempsey.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Burns, Jr., Cynthia Dempsey (Ronnie), Susan Pryor (Chris), Dennis Kevin Starnes (Cathy) and Jennifer Peterson (Johnny); his grandchildren, Danielle Owen (John), Ronnie Dempsey (Jill), Ashley Wilson (Branden), Peyton Pryor, Dalton Starnes (Chelsie) and Kayla Bridges; and his siblings, Donnie Burns, Carol Bice and Tina Brinson.
