He was predeceased by: his parents, J. B. Nelson and Emma Dean Nelson; and his wife Frances Nelson. He is survived by: his daughters, Gwen (Bennie Gibson), Kim Nelson, Pat (David Jones) and Paige Holmes; his grandchildren, Carl Gibson, Ben Gibson, Josiah Jones, Paul Jones, Sarah Jones, Stephen Jones, Rachel Holmes, Hunter Holmes, Layton Holmes and Aubrey Holmes; his sister Mary Walker; and his sister-in-law Joyce Jolly. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home (212 E College St, Jackson, GA 30233). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Providence Church (1013 Chappell Mill Rd, Milner, GA 30257).
