He was predeceased by: his brothers, Ed Risner, Jim Risner and Jerry Risner. He is survived by: his wife Gail Bernice Heinsman; his children, Julie Heinsman and Aaron Heinsman; his siblings, William (Linda Heinsman), Carl "Butch" (Carla Heinsman), Jackson (Sondra Risner) and Sue; and his brother-in-law Bruce Myers.
