He was predeceased by : his parents, Lewis Vollie Armstrong and Dorothy Josephine Tant Armstrong; his son Egbert Daniel Armstrong; his brothers, John Lewis Armstrong and James David Armstrong; and his stepfather James Scarborough.

He is survived by : his wife Margaret Louise Cates Armstrong of Jefferson; his children, Julian Forrest Armstrong, Jr. (Brenda) of Cleveland, Laurie Ann Decker (Joe) of Winder and James Allen Armstrong (Lynda) of Commerce; and his siblings, Lottie Mae Webb of Stockbridge, Donna Linda Armstrong of Dallas, Eunice Faye Pickens of Tucker, Mary Elizabeth Howell of Kennesaw, Donnie Kenneth Armstrong of Oxford and Johnnie Milton Armstrong of Winder.
