He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Hurt and Hesta Murphrey; and his siblings, John Hurt, Charles Hurt and Joann Ashford.

He is survived by : his wife Charlotte Hurt; his children, April McDowell (Marla Getford) and Matt Hurt (Melissa Connelly); and his grandchildren, Gabriel and Sophie Hurt.
