He was predeceased by: his wife Linda Faye Broxson Herrin; his granddaughter Ashley Gunter; and his siblings, Billy, Vernon, Lamar, Jimmy, Fleming Herrin, Etheleen Gilder and Josephine Tyre.
He is survived by: his children, Lisa Gunter (Keith) of Odum and Steve Herrin of Jesup; his grandchildren, Bethany Gunter and Sydney Priester (Cole); and his siblings, Ernie Herrin of Augusta, Benny Herrin (Erika) of Blairsville, Charles "Hodie" Herrin (Sharon) of Odum, Ray Herrin (Sharon) of Odum, Herbert Herrin (Joyce) of Valdosta, Faye Griffis of Odum and Dale Anderson (Roger) of Jesup. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
