He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde James Smith and Golomae Johnson Sharples; and his sister Susan Jones. He is survived by: his wife Karen Dunn Smith of Jesup; his children, Tiffany Clark (Robert) of Jesup and Thomas Alan Smith, Jr. (Lisa) of Jesup; his grandchildren, Jaydee, Hayden, Robert, Lexi, Lilly and Zoey; and his siblings, Illa Jean "Aaron" Westberry of Jesup and Clyde James "Jim" Smith (Sabrina) of Jesup. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
